Middle School can be an extremely tough time in both a student’s and a parent’s life. Our hope in the Middle School Ministry (MSM) is to assist both you and your student as they grow in their faith. Our Middle School Ministry is a large ministry with a lot of different things happening regularly. I can guarantee you that there is a place for your student, and maybe even you in this ministry (we always need volunteers).
If you’re looking for a place to help your student feel comfortable and meet new people have him/her stop by the Ground Floor on Sunday mornings. If your son or daughter is looking for a smaller, quieter (I’m using that word loosely here because nothing we do is really “quiet”) setting then the 2nd Floor or 3rd Floor is a great class for them to get engaged in.
There is so much going on and I hope that you will take some time to search through this website, check out our classroom (Room 16), or give us a call to find out more about the Middle School Ministry and who we are. Remember that we are here to help you and your student in their spiritual journey so please let us know if there is anything we can do.
Most students when they leave after one of the Middle School activities clam up and don’t really share much about what happened that day. The following are some open-ended questions to help your student open up and share with you about what they just experienced.
1. Ask lots of Questions
- How was the music/videos this week?
- Did you play pool or video games with anyone?
- Did you meet anyone new?
- What was this weeks game like?
- What was the lesson about?
- Did you learn anything valuable?
2. Take a look at the bulletin
- Notice the upcoming events
- Take a look at the lesson outline
- Go over some of the questions that we have asked
3. Encourage their participation
- Let them know you’re excited about what their learning
- Express your gratitude for their positive attitude toward church
- Challenge them toward deeper levels of involvement
That’s all we’ve got for you right now, but if you’ve got any ideas, questions, comments feel free to email us at anytime and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We also just wanted to say THANK YOU for all that you do for your kids! Parents truly are their students spiritual role models and it’s so great to see so many parents stepping up to the challenge and leading their children in a Godly manor.
